Miriam Lieberman Trio Vocal Workshop and Concert
Join HandUp Congo on a very special day – Mother’s Day.
We love Miriam’s music, not only because it is a soulful collection of stories, but because it captures the spirit of Africa.
The stories speak of her musical journey, which has taken her from Guinea and Mali, where she studied the kora, to central India, Indonesia, Mexico and South America. These places have left an imprint on Miriam’s musical style as well as a catchiness and contemporary tone that is entirely her own.
The HandUp Congo team, including new friends who are Congolese settlers on the Mid North Coast, will be selling honey and Congolese crafts at this event.
More about the music
‘Something of a renaissance woman’ (Sydney City News), Miriam Liebermanblends her West African and global sound with the sensibilities of a singer-songwriter and the distilled punchy format of pop. She brings her acoustic trio to Wingham NSW (a 3 ½ hour drive north of Sydney) with songs from her upcoming album as well as music from previous albums.
Miriamsoars on akora (21 stringed African harp) and acoustic guitar with her emotive and pure vocal sound. Together with Susie Bishop on violin and vocals and Lara Goodridge also on violin and vocals, they make an enticing and uplifting musical experience with an accomplished and polished sound.
