The challenges we are facing are enormous

Our friend Désiré SAFARI Kanyena, a community development worker for HandUp Congo’s partner CDCC, writes that a recent meeting of community leaders proved difficult. “We gathered together for the first time observing important protocols protecting us from the Ebola virus. Imagine 100 people who know each other well but yet can’t touch one another. We couldn’t shake hands, or embrace one another. Eating bush meat is prohibited. We must raise awareness with all our villages about the seriousness of this epidemic. The challenges we are facing are enormous.”  The DRC epicentre area Safari mentions is Boende, where our partners continue to work with MSF and the Ministry of Health.
