Thanksgiving message from HandUp Congo

Dear Friends of HandUp Congo,

HandUp Congo has so many reasons to be grateful on this Thanksgiving holiday. Your support and contributions have helped us in our work to empower the people of the DRC Congo region. As we count our blessings and spend time with our loved ones, let us also send a prayer to our brothers and sisters in Goma as they face a crisis of enormous proportions.

HandUp Congo has received an SOS call from our partner HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. On November 20, 2012, M23 rebel forces claimed control of the city of Goma on the Rwandan border. Medical and surgical teams from HEAL Africa are on full 24 hour shifts and resources are running out fast. Dr Jo Lusi, orthopedic surgeon and founder of HEAL Africa (and an alumnus of Congo Protestant University, another of our project partners), has sent an urgent call for help. (Read more on the crisis here).

Crisis in Goma, how you can help
The staff at HEAL Africa are working round the clock and any donations will be used to purchase supplies to directly help the victims of the violence in Goma. If you wish to support Congolese leaders of tomorrow, to help lead change, consider sending a donation to Congo Protestant University’s North American Liaison Bureau. Email Dr. Ben Hobgood on for details.

Thank you for your continued support from all of us at HandUp Congo.
