Friendship Field Trip

HandUp Congo facilitated a Friendship Field Trip in early August, taking refugees from Africa’s Great Lakes region to New South Wales’ Great Lakes.  From sausage sizzles to tours by French-speaking volunteers at the Wingham Museum, the group enjoyed warm hospitality and a rare opportunity to relax.  Rotary clubs, civic leaders and high school students alike joined together to provide an action-packed weekend that included a dairy farm tour and a briefing by the Taree Council. Some of the refugees are considering a move from busy Sydney to the more rural, affordable Great Lakes area.
