News Update – Congo's National Day June 30th

On Sunday, June 24 please join interfaith networks in praying for the Democratic Republic of Congo. As the Congo’s National Day approaches on June 30, it is a time for solidarity and support of Congolese who continue to face violence every day in North Kivu. See UNHCR’s recent news about displaced Congolese:   http://www.unhcr.org/4fc4b8df9.html?mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRols6vNZKXonjHpfsXw6%2B4oXqeg38431UFwdcjKPmjr1YIITcV0dvycMRAVFZl5nQhdDOWN. A DRC resource packet for church leaders can be provided.

For details on how you might be involved in this or other collaborative activities with Africa Great Lake refugees in Australia, contact HandUp Congo director Lucy Hobgood-Brown on lucy@claypartners.com. HandUp Congo is working with a non-profit organization made up refugees from the DRC, Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda who have reached Australia’s safe haven. Volunteers interested in assisting with training programs (computers, swimming, public presentations and more), resettlement, and special events like a soccer tournament on Congo’s National Day (June 30), please get in touch!
